What a tremendous job this guy has done. When he took over at Powell Valley, the basketball program was floundering in mediocrity and had not won an outright district title since the '90's. Today, the Union boy's basketball program is one of the best in the region and tonight they took the next step by advancing to the state tournament. Moore and his staff have done it THE RIGHT WAY, his kids behave, act appropriately on the floor and he uses the kids he has in his school. Prior to this season, many would have pointed to his first LPD crown when players like Allen, Turner, and Johnson bought into his system and won a three way tiebreaker playoff to secure the title. However, the formation of a new school and overcoming the loss of one of the best point guards in the history of the program while leading a team to the state tournament is incredible. I have no clue how the vote will turn out but regardless of what happens tomorrow night, Zack Moore and the Union Bear staff should be the coaching staff of the year for the Region D.
